Jessica Faye Gunning (born 1 January 1986) is an English actress. She is well-known for her roles in TV shows like White Heat (2012), What Remains (2013), Back (2017–2021), and The Outlaws (2021–2024).
Jessica gained huge praise for her main role in the miniseries Baby Reindeer (2024). For this role, she won many important awards. These include a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She also won a Critics' Choice Award and a British Academy Television Award.

Early Life and Education
Jessica Gunning was born on January 1, 1986, in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, England. Her parents are Paul and Val Gunning. Her mother was a drama teacher at Holmfirth High School, where Jessica also went to school. Jessica has two siblings, Harriet and Josh.
She studied at Holmfirth High School and then Greenhead College in Huddersfield. Later, she went to Rose Bruford College, a drama school, and finished her studies there in 2007.
Acting Career Highlights
Jessica Gunning started her acting career on stage. She performed at the Royal National Theatre in London in 2007 and 2008. Some of her early plays included Much Ado About Nothing.
Early TV Roles
In 2008, Jessica appeared in an episode of the popular TV show Doctor Who called "Partners in Crime". She also had a regular role as Angela in the series Law & Order: UK starting in 2009.
In 2012, she played Orla in the BBC series White Heat. The next year, she had a main role as Melissa Young in the BBC drama What Remains. In 2014, Jessica starred as Siân James in the film Pride. This movie was nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award.
Later TV and Stage Work
Jessica also appeared in The Scandalous Lady W and played Shirley Allerdyce in the Sky Atlantic series Fortitude. She took on roles like WPC Kath Morgan in Prime Suspect 1973 and DC Sophie Carson in In the Dark.
In 2019, Jessica performed on stage with famous actress Cate Blanchett at the Royal National Theatre. This play was called When We Have Sufficiently Tortured Each Other.
Breakthrough Roles
Jessica played Jan in the Channel 4 comedy Back. In 2021, she became well-known for her role as Diane Pemberley in the BBC One series The Outlaws. She continued this role for the second and third series in 2022 and 2024. She even helped write one episode of the third series.
