The 82nd Golden Globe Awards was a big event that celebrated the best movies and TV shows from 2024. The winners were announced live on TV (CBS) and online (Paramount+) on January 5, 2025. Comedian Nikki Glaser was the host. She was the first woman to host the Golden Globes by herself, which was a special moment!
The list of nominees was shared on December 9, 2024. Actors Morris Chestnut and Mindy Kaling announced them at a press conference. The movie Emilia Pérez got the most nominations for a musical or comedy film in Golden Globes history, with ten nominations. This was almost the all-time record of eleven, set by the movie Nashville in 1975. The Brutalist was next with seven nominations, and Conclave had six. For TV shows, The Bear led with five nominations. Shōgun and Only Murders in the Building each received four nominations.

About the Ceremony
On August 28, 2024, it was announced that comedian Nikki Glaser would host the awards. She was the first woman to host the Golden Globes alone. Nikki Glaser was also nominated for an award herself. She was nominated for Best Stand-Up Comedy on Television for her special, Nikki Glaser: Someday You'll Die. However, she did not win; Ali Wong won that award.
The awards show started at 8 P.M. EST / 5 P.M. PST on January 5, 2025. It was shown live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. The show was produced by Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner from White Cherry Entertainment, along with Dick Clark Productions.
This year, two special Lifetime Achievement Awards were given out. These awards celebrate people who have had a huge impact on movies and TV over many years. They were given at a special dinner on January 3, 2025, before the main TV show. Viola Davis received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her work in film. Ted Danson received the Carol Burnett Award for his achievements in television.
