Jessica Regina Korda (born February 27, 1993) is a talented Czech-American professional golfer. She plays on the LPGA Tour, which is the highest level of women's professional golf. Jessica comes from a family of amazing athletes!

Early Golf Days: Amateur Career

Jessica Korda started playing golf at a young age. She was a key player on important junior golf teams for the United States. In 2009, she was part of the U.S. Junior Solheim Cup team. The next year, in 2010, she joined the U.S. Curtis Cup team. Both of these teams won their championships!

As an amateur, Jessica also won the 2010 South Atlantic Amateur tournament. She even played in the U.S. Women's Open twice, in 2008 and 2009, while still an amateur. This is a very big professional tournament. In her first U.S. Open in 2008, she finished tied for 19th place. She was also the runner-up at the 2010 U.S. Women's Amateur championship.

Jessica also represented her family's home country, the Czech Republic, in a big amateur team event called the World Amateur Team Championship in 2006. Later, in 2010, she played for the United States in the same event. Her U.S. team won a silver medal!

In late 2010, when she was just 17, Jessica tried out for the LPGA Tour. She did so well that she finished second in the final tryout tournament. This meant she could become a full member of the LPGA Tour in 2011.

Life as a Professional Golfer

Jessica turned 18 during her first year on the LPGA Tour in 2011. She played in 15 tournaments that year. Her best finish was tied for 19th place.

Her first big professional win came in 2012 at the Women's Australian Open. This was the very first event of the 2012 season! She won after a thrilling six-person playoff. A playoff is when players who are tied at the end of a tournament play extra holes to decide the winner.

Jessica won her second LPGA Tour title in January 2014. She finished one shot ahead of another great golfer, Stacy Lewis. She has won a total of six LPGA Tour titles in her career.

Jessica has also proudly represented the United States in the Solheim Cup. This is a team competition between the best women golfers from the U.S. and Europe. She played in the Solheim Cup in 2013, 2019, and 2021. In 2017, she qualified for the team again but had to withdraw due to a forearm injury.
