Maria Jessica Aspiras Soho is a famous Filipino journalist and TV host. She was born on March 27, 1964. She works for GMA Network, a big TV company in the Philippines.

Early Life and Education
Jessica Soho was born in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines. Her dad, Abelardo Soho, worked for the government. Her mom, Maura Aspiras, was an agriculturist, which means she worked with farming.
Jessica's grandmothers, Sixta Aspiras and Concepción Soho, helped her love telling stories. Her family also has Chinese roots from her grandfather, who came to the Philippines a long time ago.
She went to the University of the Philippines Diliman to study mass communication. This is where people learn about news and media. Her professor, Luis Beltran, encouraged her to become a journalist in Manila.
Her Career in Journalism
Jessica Soho started working at GMA News in January 1985. Her very first report was about the opening of the Manila Line 1 train. Later, she reported on defense and military news.
In 1991, Jessica won a Bronze Award at the New York Film Festival. This was for her news coverage of a hostage situation in Cagayan Valley. She was the first Filipino to win this award. She also received the Ka Doroy Valencia Award. In 1994, she won a big prize from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union for her breaking news reports.
