Chus Puras's Rally Journey

Chus Puras started his rally career in 1982. He became a champion in Spain, winning the Spanish Rally Championship title eight times! He won with different cars like the Lancia Delta Integrale 16V in 1990 and 1992. Later, he won with a Citroën ZX 16S in 1995 and 1997. From 1998 to 2000, he won using a Citroën Xsara Kit Car. His last Spanish title was in 2002 with a Citroën Xsara WRC.
In 1994, Chus Puras also won the FIA Group N Cup. This was a big achievement for him. He drove a Ford Escort RS Cosworth to victory in that competition. Today, this cup is known as the World Rally Championship-3.
Joining the Citroën Team
In 1999, Chus Puras joined the Citroën Total World Rally Team. He raced alongside his teammate Philippe Bugalski. They drove the powerful Citroën Xsara Kit Car in some WRC events.
His biggest moment in the WRC came in 2001. He won his only WRC race at the Tour de Corse in France. His co-driver for this amazing win was Marc Martí. Marc Martí later became a co-driver for other famous rally drivers like Carlos Sainz and Dani Sordo.
Retirement from WRC
After his big win, Chus Puras continued to race. However, a new talented driver named Sébastien Loeb started to become very famous. Loeb's performances began to overshadow other drivers. Because of this, Chus Puras decided to retire from the Citroën factory team and the WRC in 2002. His last rally was the 2002 Rallye Sanremo, where he finished in a good sixth place.
WRC Victories
Chus Puras only had one win in the World Rally Championship, but it was a memorable one!
