The museum is a charitable foundation. This means it relies on gifts from people and groups. It does not get money from the government. The Jet Aircraft Museum first opened its doors on September 12, 2009.
What the Museum Does
The Jet Aircraft Museum has a clear goal. They want to find, keep, fix, show, and even fly jet aircraft. These are planes that were used by the Canadian Forces. Their collection ranges from older planes like the DeHavilland Vampire to newer ones.
The museum hopes to have at least four flying aircraft of each type. They want these planes to look just like they did when they were used by the Canadian Forces. The museum plans to get many famous jets. These include the CF-100 Canuck and the Canadair Sabre. They also hope to get the F2H-3 Banshee and the CF-101 Voodoo. Other target planes are the CF-104 Starfighter, CF-5 Freedom Fighter, and CT-114 Tutor.
