Mikoyan MiG-29 facts for kids
The MiG-29 Fulcrum is a powerful fighter aircraft built by the Russian company Mikoyan. It first flew in 1977 and started being used in 1983. The Soviet Union created this jet during the Cold War to compete with new American fighters like the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the F/A-18 Hornet. Today, the MiG-29 is still flown by the Russian Air Force and many other countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Testing New Ideas with MiG-29s
Some versions of the MiG-29 were made to test new features and technologies.
- The MiG-33 Super Fulcrum was a special MiG-29 designed to try out things like bombing targets on the ground.
- The MiG-35 Fulcrum-F is another version used to test very new aviation technology.
