The jeweled wakerobin, known scientifically as Trillium simile, is a beautiful plant. It is a perennial plant, which means it lives for more than two years. This plant blooms in the spring.
You can find the jeweled wakerobin in the southern parts of the Appalachian Mountains. This mountain range stretches across the southeastern United States. Specifically, it grows in Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Where the Jeweled Wakerobin Lives
This special plant likes to grow in certain places. It prefers soils that are moist and rich in humus. Humus is a dark, organic material in soil. It forms when plants and animals decay. This makes the soil very fertile.
The jeweled wakerobin grows in mature forests. You can often spot it at the edges of Rhododendron thickets. It also likes to grow where the forest begins or ends. These plants are usually found at elevations between 500 and 700 meters. That's about 1,640 to 2,300 feet high.
