Jim Bowie was born on February 17, 1965. His birthplace was Tokyo, Japan.
His father, Willard Bowie, was serving in the United States Air Force in Japan. While there, he met and married Jim's mother, Taiko, who was Japanese.
High School and College Baseball
Jim grew up in Fairfield, California. He went to Armijo High School there.
After high school, Jim continued to play baseball. He played for Sacramento City College and then for the LSU Tigers college team.
In 2012, Armijo High School honored Jim. They retired his uniform number, which means no other player at the school will ever wear that number again. This was a special moment, as he was the first athlete from Armijo High to receive this honor.
