Jim 'Bucky' Mutscheller (born March 31, 1930 – died April 10, 2015) was an amazing American football player. He played as a tight end for nine seasons with the Baltimore Colts. Jim was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.

Early Life and College Football

Jim Mutscheller was a talented athlete from a young age. He played football, basketball, and baseball while attending Beaver Falls High School. After high school, he went on to play college football at the Notre Dame.

Playing for the Fighting Irish

From 1949 to 1951, Jim played three seasons of varsity football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He played under the famous coach Frank Leahy. In 1949, his team even won the national championship! Jim was a versatile player, meaning he could play different positions well. He played both defensive end and offense for the Fighting Irish. In his final year, he was chosen to be the team captain, which is a big honor.

Professional Football Career

After college, Jim Mutscheller joined the Baltimore Colts. He played as a tight end for them for nine seasons, from 1954 to 1961.

Championship Wins

Jim was a key player for the Baltimore Colts during a very successful time. He helped the team win two NFL Championships! They won in 1958 and again in 1959. These were huge victories for the team.

Awards and Recognition

Jim Mutscheller was recognized for his great skills on the field. In 1957, he was chosen to play in the Pro Bowl. This game features the best players from the league. That same year, he was also named a Second-team All-Pro player. He even led the entire NFL in receiving touchdowns in 1957, which means he caught more touchdown passes than anyone else that season!
