James H. "Jumpin' Jimmy" Washington (born July 1, 1943) is a former American professional basketball player. He was known for his strong rebounding skills. Standing 6 feet 6 inches tall, he played as a Power forward.

Jim Washington was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He played college basketball at Villanova University. In 1965, he was chosen by the St. Louis Hawks as the 6th pick in the 1965 NBA draft.

Playing for the Chicago Bulls

After playing one year with the St. Louis Hawks, Jim Washington joined the Chicago Bulls. He quickly became a favorite among fans. He was the first player for the Bulls to average more than ten rebounds per game.

Key Seasons with the Bulls

During the 1967–1968 season, Jim Washington averaged 12.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. In the 1968 NBA playoffs, he had his best postseason performances. He averaged 17.2 points and 15 rebounds per game. Even with his great play, the Bulls lost in the first round to the Los Angeles Lakers. The next season, Washington continued to play well, averaging 14 points and 10.6 rebounds.

Later Career Teams

After his time with the Chicago Bulls, Jim Washington played for several other teams. He played for the Philadelphia 76ers, the Atlanta Hawks (which was a later version of the St. Louis Hawks team), and the Buffalo Braves.
