Jimmy O'Neal Hurst (born March 1, 1972 – died July 6, 2024) was an American baseball player. He was a right fielder, which is a position in baseball. Jimmy played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers. He also played baseball in Japan for a team called the Hiroshima Toyo Carp.

Jimmy Hurst's Baseball Journey
Jimmy Hurst started his baseball journey when the Chicago White Sox picked him in the 1990 draft. This meant they wanted him to play for their team. He began playing professionally in 1991 with a rookie team. His last professional season was in 2008 with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.
Playing in the Atlantic League
A big moment in his career was in 2002. While playing for the Newark Bears, Jimmy was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Atlantic League. He had a great season, hitting for a high average of .341. He also hit 35 home runs and helped his team score 100 runs.
