Jimmy Allen Oliver, born on July 12, 1969, is a former professional basketball player from America. He played for several teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Cleveland Cavaliers chose him in the 1991 NBA draft. He was the 39th player picked overall in the second round.

College Basketball Journey
Jimmy Oliver, also known as "Slice," first went to Community College for a year. Then, he moved to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. There, he played basketball under coach Gene Keady.
During his second year, Jimmy played in 31 games. He was a guard and forward, standing 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 208 pounds. He averaged 5.3 points per game and played about 18.2 minutes each game.
In his junior year, Jimmy got more playing time. His shooting improved to almost 50% accuracy. He also increased his average to 8 points per game. He helped his team, the Purdue Boilermakers, finish second in the Big Ten Conference. They also reached the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. The team ended with a strong record of 22 wins and 8 losses.
During his final year, Jimmy was a star player. He averaged 19.2 points per game, which was the fourth-highest in the conference. He also led the conference in free throw accuracy, making 86.1% of his shots. Because of his great performance, he was chosen for the All-Big Ten First Team.

Early NBA and CBA Years
Jimmy played his first NBA season with the Cavaliers. He averaged 3.6 points per game in 27 games. After that, he joined the CBA for the 1992–93 season. In the CBA, he averaged 17.3 points per game in 15 games.
He returned to the NBA for the 1993–1994 season. He played for the Boston Celtics. With the Celtics, he averaged 4.9 points per game and started in 6 of the 44 games he played.
After two seasons away from the NBA, he came back in the expansion draft. He played for the Toronto Raptors during the 1996–97 season. He finished his last two NBA seasons with the Washington Bullets (1997–98) and the Phoenix Suns (1998–99).

Playing in Europe

During an NBA player lockout, Jimmy played for the US national team. This was at the 1998 FIBA World Championship. He played alongside another former Purdue player, Brad Miller. Jimmy Oliver was the top scorer for Team USA in that tournament. He averaged 11.8 points per game. His excellent play helped the team win the bronze medal.
