Jimmy Allen Oliver (born July 12, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for several seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Cleveland Cavaliers chose him in the 1991 NBA draft.

College Basketball Journey
Jimmy "Slice" Oliver first went to a Community College for one year. Then, he moved to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He played basketball there for coach Gene Keady. Jimmy was a guard-forward, standing 6 feet 6 inches tall.
Sophomore Season at Purdue
In his second year, Jimmy played in 31 games. He averaged 5.3 points per game. He played alongside other great players like Steve Scheffler and Matt Painter.
Junior Year Improvements
Jimmy got more playing time in his junior season. His shooting got much better, almost 50% accurate. He also scored more points, averaging 8 per game. He helped his team, the Purdue Boilermakers, finish second in the Big Ten Conference. They also made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The team ended with a strong 22–8 record.
Senior Year Success
In his final year, Jimmy was amazing. He averaged 19.2 points per game, which was fourth best in his conference. He was also excellent at free throws, making 86.1% of them. Because of his great play, he was chosen for the All-Big Ten First Team.
Jimmy led Purdue to the NCAA Tournament again. He finished his college career with a 40.6% success rate from the 3-point line. In his senior year, he also led his team in assists (89) and minutes played. He played his last college game in the NABC All-America Game. There, he scored a game-high 25 points.
Professional Basketball Career
The Cleveland Cavaliers picked Jimmy Oliver in the 1991 NBA draft. He was the 39th player chosen overall.
Early NBA Years
Jimmy played his first NBA season with the Cavaliers. He averaged 3.6 points in 27 games. After that, he played in the CBA for a season. He averaged 17.3 points per game there.
He returned to the NBA for the 1993–1994 season. He played for the Boston Celtics, averaging 4.9 points per game. He started in 6 of the 44 games he played. Later, he joined the Toronto Raptors for the 1996–97 season. He also played for the Washington Bullets (now Washington Wizards) and the Phoenix Suns.
In total, Jimmy played 78 NBA games over five seasons. He scored 331 points. He was good at 3-point shots (34%) and free throws (77.2%).
Playing in Europe
After his time in the NBA, Jimmy Oliver played for many teams in Europe. He played for the Greek team Maroussi Athens. In 2001, he helped them win the FIBA Saporta Cup. He scored 31 points in the final game against Chalon.
Earlier, in 1993, he won the Copa Galicia with Pescanova Ferrol in Spain. In 2006, he led KK Olimpija to win both the Slovenian League and the Slovenian Cup.
Playing for Team USA
During an NBA player lockout, Jimmy played for the US national team. This was in the 1998 FIBA World Championship. He played alongside another former Purdue player, Brad Miller.
Jimmy Oliver was the top scorer for Team USA in that tournament. He averaged 11.8 points per game. He helped his team win the bronze medal.
