Jordon Scott Adell (born April 8, 1999) is an American professional baseball player. He plays as an outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels in Major League Baseball (MLB). Jo Adell first played in the MLB in 2020.

Jo Adell's Early Baseball Days

Jo Adell went to Ballard High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He finished school there in 2017. After his first year in high school in 2014, he decided to play college baseball for the University of Louisville.

When he was a junior in 2016, Jo Adell was a great player. He hit for a .449 batting average. He also hit 11 home runs and had 44 runs batted in (RBIs). As a pitcher, he had a low 1.55 earned run average (ERA). This means he didn't give up many runs. He also got 56 strikeouts.

Becoming a Professional Baseball Player

Getting Drafted and Playing in the Minor Leagues

Many people thought Jo Adell would be one of the best young players in the 2017 MLB draft. The Los Angeles Angels picked him as the tenth player overall in the draft.

Jo Adell started his professional career in June 2017. He played for the AZL Angels. He hit well, with a .288 batting average and four home runs. He also had 21 RBIs and stole 10 bases. Because he played so well, he moved up to the Orem Owlz. He finished that season with the Owlz, hitting .376 with one home run and nine RBIs in 18 games.

In 2018, Jo Adell began the season with the Burlington Bees. He hit .326 with six home runs and 29 RBIs in 25 games. Then, he was promoted to the Inland Empire 66ers. He was also chosen to play in the 2018 All-Star Futures Game. This game features top young players.

After 57 games with the 66ers, he moved up again to the Mobile BayBears. In total, playing for three different teams, Adell hit .290. He also had 20 home runs, 77 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases.

In 2019, Jo Adell was invited to train with the Angels' main team. He started the year on the injured list with Mobile. This means he was hurt and couldn't play. After returning, he played 32 games, hitting .347 with six home runs. He was again named to the 2019 All-Star Futures Game. He played right field and had a good game.

On August 1, Jo Adell was promoted to the Salt Lake Bees, a Triple-A team. In 2019, playing for three minor league teams, he hit .289 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs. After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League. He also played for the United States national baseball team in the 2019 WBSC Premier 12 tournament. In that tournament, he hit .394 with 11 hits and three home runs.

Playing for the Los Angeles Angels

On August 4, 2020, the Angels called Jo Adell up to the major leagues. He played his first MLB game that night against the Seattle Mariners. He got one hit in four tries. On August 29, Adell hit his first major league home run against the Seattle Mariners. He even hit a second home run in the same game! Jo Adell finished his first MLB season hitting .161 with 3 home runs and seven RBIs in 38 games.

Adell started the 2021 season with the Salt Lake Bees again. He was called back up to the major leagues on August 2. He played his first game of the season the next day. He had a great game, getting three hits, two doubles, three RBIs, and a stolen base against the Texas Rangers. On August 17, against the Detroit Tigers, Adell hit his first career grand slam. A grand slam is a home run with the bases loaded, scoring four runs. He finished the 2021 season hitting .246 with four home runs and 26 RBIs in 35 games.

In 2022, Jo Adell played in a career-high 88 games for the Angels. He hit .224 with eight home runs, 27 RBIs, and four stolen bases.

Adell was sent to the Triple-A Salt Lake team to start the 2023 season. In April, he hit a home run in six games in a row. This set a new record for the Angels team! On June 21, Adell hit a very long home run that went 514-foot (157 m). This was the longest home run hit in either the minor or major leagues since tracking began in 2015. He played in 5 games before he was placed on the injured list on July 14. He had a left oblique strain, which is a muscle injury. He was moved to the 60-day injured list on August 1. This meant he would be out for a longer time. He came back to play on September 18.

In 2024, Jo Adell played in 130 games for the Angels. He hit .207 with 20 home runs, 62 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases. On September 7, 2024, he was placed on the injured list again with a left oblique strain. Two days later, he was moved to the 60-day injured list, which ended his season.
