Jo Stanley is a well-known Australian television and radio presenter, and a comedian. Her full name is Joanne McFarlane (her maiden name was Bailey). She is famous for making people laugh and for hosting popular shows.

Jo Stanley was a host on the radio show Jo & Lehmo on Gold 104.3 from 2016 to 2017. Before that, she hosted Weekend Breakfast on the Hit Network. She also co-hosted The Matt and Jo Show on Fox FM for many years, from 2003 to 2013. In 2020, Jo started a podcast called Broad Radio, which later became a full radio broadcasting platform in 2024.

Her Career in Entertainment

Starting in Radio

Jo began her radio journey on Fox FM. She started with a show on Sunday nights alongside Jodie J Hill. Later, Jo and Jodie moved to morning radio on Fox FM with their show called Jodie & Jo. This show became very popular.

In 2003, Jo and Jodie moved to Triple M to host a radio show called The Whole Shebang. They stayed with this show until the end of that year.

The Matt & Jo Show

Later in 2003, Jo Stanley joined the breakfast show at Fox FM. She teamed up with Matt Tilley, Craig Bennett, and Adam Richard. The show was first called Matt, Jo and Benno with the Fabulous Adam Richard. After Craig Bennett left, it was renamed The Matt & Jo Show.

This show became a huge success in Melbourne. When it finished in November 2013, it was the number one breakfast show. It had more listeners than any other breakfast show for over five years! After The Matt & Jo Show ended, it was replaced by Fifi & Dave.

Comedy and Other TV Shows

Before she became famous on radio, Jo Stanley performed live comedy. She was part of a comedy group in Melbourne called The Toasted Marshmallows. This group later changed its name to The Gorskys. Jo also performed with Jodie J Hill in shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

In 2007, Jo was a contestant on the TV show It Takes Two. On this show, celebrities teamed up with professional singers. Jo's partner was Anthony Callea. They made it to the final but were eliminated on July 10, 2007.

Jo also co-hosted a TV series called Yasmin's Getting Married on Network Ten. She worked with Ryan Phelan on this show, but it only aired for four episodes. She also appeared on Good as Gold on the Seven Network with Mikey Robins.

In January 2014, Jo Stanley became the host of Weekend Breakfast. This show is broadcast across Australia every Saturday and Sunday morning.

In November 2015, Jo was announced as the new co-host for the breakfast show on Gold 104.3 with Lehmo. Their show, Jo & Lehmo, started on January 18, 2016. Even though it was popular, the show was cancelled in November 2017. Christian O'Connell took over their spot in 2018.

In February 2019, Jo Stanley became a co-host of the Seven Network's lifestyle program, House of Wellness. She hosted this show alongside Luke Darcy, Rachael Finch, and Luke Hines.

On October 7, 2024, Jo launched Broad Radio as a full radio show. She had started it as a podcast in early 2020. The radio show features different co-hosts and covers a variety of topics.

Her Personal Life

Jo Stanley went to school at Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar School and Donvale Christian School.

Her original family name is Bailey. She changed her stage name to Stanley to avoid being confused with other people named Jo Bailey. Stanley is actually her husband Darren McFarlane's last name.

In August 2008, Jo announced that she and her husband were going to have a baby. In March 2009, she gave birth to their daughter.

Jo is a big fan of the Collingwood Football Club. This team plays in the Australian Football League. She also studied at Monash University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors. She focused on drama and theatre studies during her time there.
