Joakim "Jocke" Brodén was born on October 5, 1980. He is a Swedish musician. He is best known as the lead singer and keyboard player for the power metal band Sabaton. He started the band with bassist Pär Sundström in 1999. Sometimes, he also plays guitar for the band.

About Joakim's Early Life
Joakim Brodén's father is from Sweden. His mother is from the country that used to be called Czechoslovakia. Because of this, Joakim is a citizen of both Sweden and the Czech Republic.
He once shared that he became a fan of metal music when he was very young. He was only three or four years old! This happened after he saw the music video for the song "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister. When he was a kid, Joakim was also a competitive swimmer.
Joakim's Music Career
Before starting Sabaton, Joakim Brodén played keyboards for another band called Stormwind during one of their tours.
In 1999, Joakim and bassist Pär Sundström created their own band, Sabaton. Joakim is the main singer and keyboard player. He also came up with the band's name. A "sabaton" is a special metal shoe that was part of a knight's armor.
Joakim is known for his unique look when he performs. He often wears a special vest with metal plates. Many people say it looks like a bulletproof vest. He also has a cool mohawk hairstyle and a distinct "squared" beard. His singing voice is deep and strong, called a baritone.
In 2015, Joakim lost a bet with his bandmates. The bet meant he had to walk to their next concert! He didn't realize the concert was in Trondheim, Norway. That was about 350 miles (560 kilometers) away! On his long journey, Joakim stayed at the homes of many fans who helped him along the way.
In 2016, Joakim took part in a singing contest in the Czech Republic called Český slavík. He finished in fifth place. He tried again the next year, but a new rule said that singers had to perform mostly in the Czech Republic. So, he was not able to compete.
Joakim's Hobbies
Besides music, Joakim Brodén also enjoys playing pinball. In both 2016 and 2017, he joined the Swedish national pinball championships. He placed 167th in 2016 and 255th in 2017.
