Joan Daurer facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Joan Daurer was an important painter who lived a long time ago, in the 1300s. He worked on the island of Mallorca, which is part of Spain, between the years 1358 and 1374. We know about him from old records that show he painted for churches during the 14th century.

Joan Daurer's paintings were influenced by another artist named Ramón Destorrents from Barcelona. Daurer brought many Gothic style artworks to Mallorca, especially large paintings for altars in churches, called altarpieces. You can find some of his works in old monasteries, churches, and local museums. Other pieces are kept safe in the Museum of Mallorca.

One of his most famous works is a painting called the "pictorial panel of Santa Maria de Inca." He finished this painting in 1373, and it is still in the church of Santa Maria la Major in the town of Inca.
