Joseph "Joe" Chealey (born November 1, 1995) is an American professional basketball player. He grew up in Orlando, Florida, and went to Apopka High School. Joe played college basketball for the College of Charleston in South Carolina. He has played for teams in the NBA G League and in different countries.

College Days at Charleston
Joe Chealey joined the College of Charleston Cougars in 2013. During his first year, the team won 14 games. A new coach, Earl Grant, joined the team later. Joe and Coach Grant built a strong connection.
Sadly, Joe missed his third year of college basketball. He tore his Achilles tendon during one of the first practices. This injury kept him from playing that season.
When he returned, Joe played really well. In his fourth year, he averaged 17.2 points and 3.3 assists per game. He was named to the First-team All-CAA. In his final year, he scored 18.0 points and had 3.7 assists per game. He was again chosen for the First-team All-CAA.
Joe had an amazing game where he scored 32 points. This helped his team win against Northeastern in the conference championship. This win sent them to the NCAA Tournament! Joe was also part of the CAA All-Tournament team twice. Overall, he averaged 14.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game in college.
Starting His Pro Career
Playing for the Charlotte Hornets
After college, Joe Chealey was not chosen in the 2018 NBA draft. However, he still got to play for the Charlotte Hornets in their summer league team. On July 27, 2018, he signed a training camp deal with the Hornets.
Later, his contract changed to a two-way contract. This meant he would play for both the Hornets and their G League team, the Greensboro Swarm. Joe made his first NBA appearance on January 30, 2019. He scored two points in a game against the Boston Celtics.
While playing for the Greensboro Swarm, he averaged 16.35 points and 5.42 assists per game. In August 2019, the Hornets re-signed Joe.
Time with the Greensboro Swarm
Joe was cut from the Hornets team in October 2019. But he quickly rejoined the Greensboro Swarm roster. He had some great games with the Swarm. In one game, he scored 22 points, grabbed five rebounds, and made five assists.
In another game, he almost got a "triple-double." He scored 15 points, had 10 rebounds, and made eight assists. He also had four steals in that game! For the Swarm, he averaged 11.12 points and 4.32 assists per game.
Joe briefly returned to the Charlotte Hornets in February 2020. He signed two 10-day contracts with them. He then returned to the Greensboro Swarm in November 2021. During this time, he averaged 10.74 points and 5.91 assists per game.
Playing Overseas
Joe Chealey has also played basketball in other countries. In August 2021, he signed with Hapoel Gilboa Galil in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
In August 2022, he joined MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza in the Polish Basketball League. He averaged 14.38 points and 5.44 assists per game there.
In July 2023, he signed with Hapoel Eilat, another team in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Most recently, in July 2024, Joe signed with Juventus Utena in the Lithuanian Basketball League. However, he left the team in October after getting some serious injuries.
