Joe Chill is a character from DC Comics who appears in stories about the famous superhero Batman. He was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. Joe Chill first showed up in a comic book called Detective Comics #33 in November 1939.
In Batman's origin story, Joe Chill is a person from Gotham City who causes a very sad event for young Bruce Wayne. He is involved in the tragic loss of Bruce's parents, Dr. Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne. This event deeply affects Bruce. It makes him promise to fight crime as the hero Batman to prevent similar tragedies.
Who is Joe Chill?
Joe Chill is known as the person linked to the most important moment in Batman's life. He is the one who was involved when Bruce Wayne's parents were killed. This happened in an alley in Gotham City. This sad event is what makes Bruce decide to become Batman. He wants to make sure no one else has to go through what he did.
First Appearance in Comics
Joe Chill first appeared in Detective Comics #33. This comic came out in November 1939. However, he was not named in that first story. Later, in Batman #47 (June–July 1948), the character was finally given the name Joe Chill. This made him a specific part of Batman's history.
