About Joe Salisbury

Joe Salisbury grew up in Putney, a part of London, England. He attended King's College School in Wimbledon until 2010. He trained hard at the Sutton Tennis Centre and later played college tennis at the University of Memphis in the United States.

Playing Tennis in College

From 2010 to 2014, Joe played tennis for the Memphis Tigers team. He had some injuries when he was younger. So, not many American colleges were looking to recruit him. However, the coach at Memphis decided to take a chance on him.

Joe became a record-breaker at Memphis! He achieved 97 doubles wins with his partner, David O’Hare. This was the most in the school's history. In his final year, he also set a record with 25 singles wins.

Starting His Professional Journey

Joe Salisbury began his professional tennis career in 2014. He made his first appearance in a main ATP Tour tournament. This was at the 2014 U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships. He played doubles with David O'Hare.

First Big Wins and Grand Slam Success

In 2018, Joe reached the semifinals of the Wimbledon men's doubles with Frederik Nielsen. Later that year, he won his very first ATP Tour doubles title. This was at the Shenzhen Open with Ben McLachlan.

A new partnership began in 2019 when Joe teamed up with Rajeev Ram. Together, they won the Australian Open in 2020. This was a huge Grand Slam victory!

A Year of Triumphs: 2021

The year 2021 was incredible for Joe. He reached the final of the Australian Open again with Rajeev Ram.

He then won the mixed doubles title at the French Open with Desirae Krawczyk. He also reached the mixed doubles final at Wimbledon with Harriet Dart.

Joe and Rajeev Ram won their first Masters 1000 title. This was at the National Bank Open in Canada.

At the US Open, Joe partnering with Ram won the men's doubles championship. It was a special moment as they beat another British player, Jamie Murray, and his partner in the final. Joe also won his second mixed doubles Grand Slam title at the US Open with Desirae Krawczyk. This made him the first man since 2010 to win both doubles and mixed doubles titles at the US Open in the same year.

World No. 1 and More Titles: 2022

In April 2022, Joe Salisbury achieved a major milestone. He became the world No. 1 in men's doubles! He was only the second British man to reach this top ranking.

He and Rajeev Ram continued their winning streak. They took home the title at the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters and the 2022 Western & Southern Open.

They successfully defended their title at the US Open. This was their third Grand Slam together. They also ended the year by winning the prestigious ATP Finals in Italy.

Making History at the US Open: 2023

Joe and Rajeev Ram made history in 2023. They became the first team in the Open Era to win three consecutive US Open men's doubles titles!

They also successfully defended their ATP Finals doubles title in Italy. They won it for the second year in a row.

New Partnerships and Olympic Games: 2024-2025

Joe and Rajeev Ram started 2024 by winning the Adelaide International.

Joe represented Great Britain at the Paris Olympics. He played in both men's doubles and mixed doubles.

After the 2024 US Open, Joe and Rajeev Ram decided to end their successful partnership. Joe announced that he would be playing with fellow Briton Neal Skupski for the 2025 season.

In 2025, Joe and Neal Skupski reached several finals. These included the Qatar Open and the Barcelona Open.

They also reached the final of the French Open and the US Open. However, they finished as runners-up in both.

At Wimbledon in 2025, Joe reached the mixed doubles final with Luisa Stefani.
