Neal Skupski, born on December 1, 1989, is a British professional tennis player. He is famous for playing in doubles matches. He even reached the amazing achievement of being the world's number one doubles player in November 2022. He shared this top spot with his partner, Wesley Koolhof. Neal was the third British player to become world number one in doubles.

Neal has won three major tennis tournaments called Grand Slams. He won the men's doubles at the Wimbledon Championships in 2023 with Wesley Koolhof. He also won the mixed doubles at the Wimbledon Championships in both 2021 and 2022 with Desirae Krawczyk. He has won 17 doubles titles on the ATP Tour, including big events like the Madrid Open and Canadian Open in 2022. Neal has also played for Great Britain in the Davis Cup and at the Summer Olympics.

Neal's Early Life and College Days

Neal Skupski grew up in Liverpool, England. His parents are Mary and Ken Skupski Sr. He went to King David High School. Neal's older brother, Ken Skupski, is also a tennis player. They often played together as partners until Ken stopped playing professionally in 2022.

Before becoming a full-time professional, Neal played some matches in 2010 and 2011. He then took a break to study sports administration at Louisiana State University. While at college, he also played tennis for his university team.

Neal's Professional Tennis Journey

Starting as a Pro

Neal began his professional tennis career in 2013. At first, he played in smaller tournaments. He often teamed up with his brother Ken. Together, they won five Challenger titles in 2013. These wins helped Neal climb into the top 100 doubles players in the world.

In 2013, the Skupski brothers played in their first major ATP World Tour tournament, the Kremlin Cup. They made it all the way to the final!

First Big Wins and Grand Slam Moments

In 2017, Neal reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon, playing with his brother Ken. The next year, in 2018, he won his first ATP Tour title at the Open Sud de France, again with Ken. Later that year, he won an even bigger title, the Vienna Open, with fellow British player Joe Salisbury.

Neal continued to do well in Grand Slams. He reached the mixed doubles semifinal at the Australian Open in 2019. He also made it to his first men's doubles Grand Slam semifinal at the US Open with Jamie Murray.

Becoming a Wimbledon Champion and World No. 1

The year 2021 was a big one for Neal. He won his first Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon mixed doubles with his partner Desirae Krawczyk. He also made his debut at the Olympics that year.

In 2022, Neal teamed up with Wesley Koolhof, and they became a very strong pair. They won many titles, including the Madrid Open, Canadian Open, and Paris Masters. These are all very important tournaments! Their amazing performance led Neal to become the world's number one doubles player in November 2022, sharing the top spot with Wesley. He also won his second Wimbledon mixed doubles title with Desirae Krawczyk in 2022.

Recent Successes and Grand Slam Finals

In 2023, Neal and Wesley Koolhof continued their winning streak. They won their first men's doubles Grand Slam title together at the Wimbledon Championships! This win helped Neal return to the world No. 1 ranking.

In 2024, Neal and Desirae Krawczyk reached two more Grand Slam mixed doubles finals, at the Australian Open and the French Open. He also won the doubles title at the Queen's Club Championships with Michael Venus.

The year 2025 saw Neal record his 300th win on the ATP Tour. He also made it to the finals of the French Open and the US Open in men's doubles with his partner Joe Salisbury.

Playing for Teams: World TeamTennis

Neal also played in a special team tennis league called World TeamTennis. He started in 2015 with the California Dream. Later, he played for the New York Empire for four seasons. In 2020, Neal helped the New York Empire win the King Trophy, which is like their championship award!

A Look at Neal's Life Off the Court

Neal is the younger brother of Ken Skupski, who was also a tennis player. They often played together and even won the Mexican Open in 2021.

Neal is a big fan of the football team Liverpool F.C.. He has even asked for their scores during his own tennis matches! He also enjoys playing Fantasy Premier League with other tennis players like Andy Murray.
