Joseph "Joe" Wright (born in 1938) is an American businessman. He has held many important roles in both government and private companies. From 1988 to 1989, he worked for the U.S. government as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for President Ronald Reagan. The OMB helps the President manage the government's money and plans.
Today, Joe Wright is involved with several companies and groups. He is the Chairman of Chart National's advisory board. He also helps guide investments for ClearSky Power and Technology Fund and ClearSky Security Fund. He is on the Board of Systems Control. He is also a member of important groups like the Council on Foreign Relations and the Economic Club of New York.

Working for the Government
In the 1980s, Joe Wright served in the U.S. government under President Reagan. He was the Deputy Secretary of Commerce. He also worked as the Deputy Director and then the Director of the Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB). This role meant he was part of the President's Cabinet, a group of top advisors.
He also held other important jobs in government departments. These included roles in the Departments of Defense, Commerce, and Agriculture.

President Reagan gave Joe Wright the Distinguished Citizens Award. Later, President George H.W. Bush asked him to join the President's Export Council. He was also the Chairman of the Export Control Sub-Committee.
President George W. Bush appointed him to several important committees. These included the President's Commission on U.S. Postal Service Reform. He also served on the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC). Wright has also worked on the Defense Business Board under three different presidents. Education and Early Career
Joe Wright studied at the Colorado School of Mines for his first degree. He then went on to get a graduate degree from Yale University.
Before working for the government in the 1980s, Wright was the President of Citicorp Retail Services. These were companies that handled credit cards for Citibank.
He started his career at a company called Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. There, he became a Partner. He also led the Growth Services consulting business.
Awards and Recognition
Joe Wright has received several awards for his work. President Reagan gave him the Distinguished Citizens Award. His old university, the Colorado School of Mines, also gave him the Distinguished Achievement Award.
In 1985, he won the Government Computer News Annual Award for Excellence. This award was given at the Government Computer Expo. In July 2021, he received the Marquis Who's Who Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes people who have had a long and successful career.
Personal Life
Joe Wright is married to Ellen Wright. She is a well-known author, painter, and decorator. They live together in Florida.
