Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus (born May 21, 1997), known as Joeboy, is a talented Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is currently signed with Warner Music Africa and his own record label, Young Legend. Before this, he was discovered in 2017 by Mr Eazi through a special program called emPawa Africa. Joeboy is known for his cool Afro-pop and R&B music.

Joeboy's Musical Journey
Joeboy started his music career in 2017. He gained attention with a viral cover of Ed Sheeran's song "Shape of You". This cover helped him switch from rapping to singing, which a friend encouraged him to do.
His cover song caught the eye of Nigerian artist and businessman Mr Eazi. Mr Eazi found Joeboy on Instagram. He then invited Joeboy to join the emPawa Africa program. This program helps new African artists by giving them tools and support to grow their careers.
First Songs and Big Hits
Joeboy released a song called "Fààjí" with Mr Eazi on October 26, 2018. Joeboy used some money he got from emPawa100 to make a music video for this song.
In early 2019, Joeboy created his famous song "Baby". He got a beat from a producer and wrote and recorded the song in just 45 minutes! When Mr Eazi heard it, he shared it online, making people excited for its release on March 1, 2019.
With help from emPawa Africa, Joeboy used a simple visualizer video to promote "Baby". This video was a big reason the song became so popular. He said the program taught him how to market his music well and stay independent. "Baby" was streamed over 20 million times on YouTube and Spotify in 2019. The visualizer video for "Baby" has over 31 million views on YouTube!
Joeboy then released "Beginning" on August 15, 2019. The visualizer music video for "Beginning" has over 23 million views on YouTube. In this video, he sings about falling for a friend he first didn't notice.
Debut EP and Album
After these hits, Joeboy released his first extended play (EP) called Love & Light in November 2019. This EP included "Baby" and "Beginning". It also featured the song "Don't Call Me" with Mayorkun and another track called "All for You".
In April 2020, Joeboy released "Call". This song was described as a "catchy love song" by OkayAfrica . It was the first song from his upcoming first studio album. The music video for "Call" had cool sci-fi themes.
In January 2021, Joeboy announced his first album, Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic. It came out in February 2021 and was quite successful.
On May 19, 2023, he released his second album, Body & Soul. This album included popular songs like "Sip (Alcohol)", "Contour", "Body & Soul", and "Duffel Bag".
Later in 2023, he released "Only God Save Me". He also released an EP called "Body Soul and Spirit" which featured this song.
On February 2, 2024, Joeboy announced that he had started his own record label, "Young Legend". Soon after, on February 16, 2024, he released a very popular song called "Osadebe".
