Joel Oulette (born in 2001 or 2002) is a Canadian actor. He is best known for playing the main character, Jared, in the TV drama series Trickster. This was his first big starring role after appearing in other shows like Tribal and movies such as Parallel Minds and Monkey Beach.

Growing Up in Alberta
Joel Oulette was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. He has family connections to the Red River Métis Nation and the Cumberland House Cree Nation.
Starting Acting Young
Joel began acting when he was just five years old. His mother, who was also an actress, encouraged him to start. He went to Strathmore High School and played on the school's Spartan's Football team.
Amazing Race Canada
In 2023, Joel and his sister, Shayla Stonechild, teamed up to compete on the ninth season of The Amazing Race Canada. They traveled across Canada, completing challenges.
Acting Career Highlights
Early Roles in Film and TV
Joel Oulette started his acting journey with small parts. In 2007, he was an extra in the Western TV movie Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Later, in 2018, he had a small role as a young hunter in the adventure film Alpha.
Breakthrough with Trickster
Joel earned a bigger role in the 2020 drama film Monkey Beach. He also appeared in the crime drama TV series Tribal. In 2020, he starred as Runaway in the movie Parallel Minds.
In September 2019, Joel was chosen for the main role of Jared in the supernatural thriller drama TV series Trickster. The show first aired in October 2020. Joel even appeared in a commercial during Hockey Night in Canada to promote the show.
Recent Projects and Recognition
In February 2021, Joel starred in an episode of the Netflix series Two Sentence Horror Stories. He played an Indigenous man who faced a dark past during a visit to an old west reenactment. That same year, he starred as Derrick Desjardins in the thriller film Abducted. Joel also played the main character, Ben Taggart, in the first season of the series Ruby and the Well.
At the 9th Canadian Screen Awards in 2021, Joel was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his work in Trickster. In 2022, he was cast as Hahn in the live-action TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender. In 2024, he co-hosted the documentary series Warrior Up! with Anna Lambe and Joshua Odjick.
