Joey Boy, whose real name is Apisit Opasaimlikit, is a famous Thai hip hop singer and producer. Born in 1974, he is often called the Godfather of Thai Hip Hop because of his big influence on the music style in Thailand.

About Joey Boy
Apisit was born into a Thai Chinese family. When he was 14 years old, he started listening to hip hop music. He also enjoyed skateboarding. In 1994, he signed with a music company called Bakery Music. He finished high school at Wat Racha Thiwat.
Working with Snow
In 1995, Joey Boy started working with a Canadian reggae artist named Snow. They recorded a song together called "Fun, Fun, Fun." Joey Boy even flew to Toronto, Canada, to record it. This song became one of the most popular singles in Thailand. The music video showed Joey Boy and Snow exploring Toronto. Later, in 1997, Joey Boy also appeared on Snow's song "Me and Joey."
Gancore and The Black Eyed Peas
In 2000, Joey Boy moved to a new music company, GMM Grammy. There, he started his very own record label called Gancore Club. He uses this label to help other artists make their music.
Joey Boy has also spent time in the United States. There, he met will.i.am from the famous group The Black Eyed Peas. They worked together on Joey Boy's song "LA to BKK." Joey Boy met will.i.am outside a club in San Francisco and told him he liked his music. When The Black Eyed Peas came to Thailand in 2004, Joey Boy was the opening act for their concert. Will.i.am even invited him to perform on stage with them! Joey Boy also opened for The Black Eyed Peas again in 2006 and has continued to work with the band on his albums.
In 2006, Joey Boy was part of a special rock-opera show called Ramakien: A Rak Opera. This show was based on Thailand's national story, the Ramakien. It was performed at the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts.
Joey Boy has also acted in movies. In December 2006, he was in The Possible. He played the leader of a 1970s Thai band that travels through time. In 2012, he starred in the comedy horror film Ghost Day as a character named Mhen. He also released a popular song called "Teerak" with an artist named Tinglish.
