Joseph Michael Kramer, born on June 21, 1950, is a famous American musician. He is best known as the drummer for the rock band Aerosmith. Aerosmith was welcomed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Joey Kramer was born in The Bronx, a part of New York City. His parents were Doris and Mickey Kramer. His father was a businessman. Joey is Jewish and had a bar mitzvah ceremony when he was younger.
Joey Kramer's second wife, Linda, passed away on June 22, 2022. She was 55 years old.
Joey Kramer's Music Career
In the early 1970s, Joey Kramer was part of a band called The Institution. This was a garage band from New Jersey. On November 25, 1970, another famous band, Steel Mill, which included Bruce Springsteen, played before The Institution at Newark State College.
Joining Aerosmith
Joey Kramer thought of the name Aerosmith in 1968. He was listening to an album by Harry Nilsson called Aerial Ballet. This was two years before the band officially started. He has said that the name has nothing to do with the book Arrowsmith.
Before joining Aerosmith, Joey moved to Boston. There, he studied at Berklee College of Music. He also played with a band called Chubby & the Turnpikes. This band later changed its name to Tavares.
Other Projects and Appearances
Joey Kramer wrote a book about his life called Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top. It was released on June 30, 2009.
He also appeared on the TV show The Simpsons two times. The first time was with Aerosmith in an episode called "Flaming Moe's" in 1991. He appeared by himself in another episode called "The Ned-Liest Catch" in 2011. In 2015, a company called NECA made action figures of the Aerosmith band members based on their Simpsons appearance.
In 2013, Joey Kramer started his own coffee company. It was called Rockin' & Roastin' Coffee. It sold organic whole bean coffee. In 2015, he worked with Les Otten to open two coffee shop and restaurant locations. These locations have since closed.
