Joey Wong Cho-Yee is a famous former actress and singer. She was born on January 31, 1967. She is from Taiwan but became very well known in Hong Kong.
Joey Wong was considered one of the 'Four Flowers' of Hong Kong cinema. This means she was one of the top actresses of her time. Other actresses in this group included Maggie Cheung, Rosamund Kwan, and Cherie Chung.

About Joey Wong's Life
Joey Wong was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She grew up there and finished her high school studies. She has an older brother, a younger brother, and a sister.
Her father was a basketball player. He encouraged Joey to become a professional basketball player too. She started playing basketball when she was fourteen.
How Joey Started Acting
Joey Wong filmed a TV commercial for sports shoes. This commercial caught the eye of a film producer. The producer then cast her as the main actress in a movie. The movie was called It'll Be Very Cold by the Lakeside This Year.
Her role in this film got the attention of Mona Fong. Mona Fong was a producer from Shaw Brothers, a big film company. She invited Joey to come to Hong Kong. In 1985, Joey starred in her first Hong Kong film. It was called Let's Make Laugh II.
Becoming a Film Star
In 1987, Joey Wong played a beautiful ghost in the movie A Chinese Ghost Story. This role made her very popular. She became a film idol in countries like Japan and South Korea.
After this, Joey starred in many more movies. She often played characters like ghosts or magical fox spirits.
In 1989, she acted in a Japanese TV show called A Woman From Hong Kong. She also appeared in commercials and released photo albums.
Singing and Later Career
Joey Wong started her singing career in 1992. She released a CD single in Japanese and Mandarin. It was called "Hold You In My Arms Forever".
In 1993, she played the White Snake in a movie called Green Snake. This film was a new version of an old Chinese legend.
In 1994, Joey said she wanted to stop making movies. She stayed out of the public eye for a few years. She returned in 1997 for a Japanese movie called Peking Genjin. She also released a song called "Who Are You?".
In 1998, she released a Japanese CD called Angelus. She also released her only full Mandarin CD, Isolation.
After Isolation, she mostly retired again. She came back for the movie Peony Pavilion in 2001. She announced her retirement again in 2002.
In 2004, she appeared in Shanghai Story. She also reportedly acted in a Taiwanese TV series. It was said that she enjoyed acting again.
Retirement and Life Now
In September 2005, Joey Wong officially announced her retirement from acting. She now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is studying English there.
Joey Wong was also well known for her relationship with Chyi Chin. He is a Taiwanese singer. Their relationship lasted for about 16 years.
