Joffrey's Basketball Journey
Starting in France: Élan Chalon (2009–2012)
Joffrey Lauvergne started his professional career in 2009 with Élan Chalon in France. Before that, he spent two years at INSEP, a famous sports school in Paris.
With Élan Chalon, he helped his team win several important titles. They won the French League in 2012. They also won the French Cup twice, in 2011 and 2012. Plus, they won the Leaders Cup in 2012. During his time there, Lauvergne averaged about 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in the French League. He left the team in November 2012.
Short Stop in Spain: Valencia (2012)
After leaving Élan Chalon, Lauvergne signed a short contract with ACB club Valencia in Spain. He played five games for them, averaging 5.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Becoming a Star in Serbia: Partizan (2012–2014)
In December 2012, Lauvergne joined Partizan Belgrade in Serbia. He quickly became a key player. In the 2013 NBA draft, he was picked by the Memphis Grizzlies. However, his rights were soon traded to the Denver Nuggets. It was decided he would stay and play overseas for a while before joining the NBA.

He became one of the best rebounders in the league. He averaged 9.3 rebounds in 10 regular season games. The Denver Nuggets noticed his progress.
When the team captain got injured, Lauvergne was chosen as the new captain. This was a big deal because he was the first non-Serbian player to be captain of Partizan. In 24 EuroLeague games, he averaged 11.1 points and led the league with 8.6 rebounds per game. He was also chosen for the Ideal Team of the 2013–14 ABA League season.
