Johannes Andreas Brinkman (born March 22, 1902 – died May 6, 1949), also known as Jan Brinkman, was a Dutch architect. He was a key figure in the Nieuwe Bouwen movement, which was a style of modern architecture in the Netherlands.

About Johannes Brinkman

Johannes Brinkman was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in 1902. His father, Michiel Brinkman, was also a famous architect. Michiel started his own architecture company in Rotterdam in 1910. He was well-known for designing the Spangen neighborhood in Rotterdam in 1922.

After Van der Vlugt died in 1936, Brinkman found a new partner, architect Johannes Hendrik van den Broek. During this time, their firm designed a new Rotterdam Cruise Terminal for the Holland-America Line.

Johannes Brinkman died in 1949. Later, another architect named Jaap Bakema joined the firm. In 1951, the company was renamed Architectenbureau Van den Broek en Bakema. Today, it is known as Broekbakema.
