Sir John Armytage, 2nd Baronet (born 13 July 1732 – died 10 September 1758) was a young and important British politician. He was part of a noble family and served in the British Parliament. A "Baronet" is a special title, like a knight, that can be passed down in a family.

Early Life and Education

Sir John Armytage was the oldest son of Sir Samuel Armytage, who was the 1st Baronet. His mother was Anne Griffith.

He went to Eton College, a famous school in England. After that, he studied at Trinity College, Cambridge starting in 1751. He earned his Master of Arts (MA) degree in 1753.

In 1747, when he was only 15 years old, Sir John became the 2nd Baronet. This happened after his father passed away.

Becoming a Politician

Sir John Armytage became a Member of Parliament (MP) for the city of York. An MP is a person elected to represent their area in the country's government. He served in this role from 1754 until 1758.

His Role in War

In 1758, Sir John Armytage volunteered to join the army during the Seven Years' War. This was a big global conflict involving many countries.

He sadly died in France during the Battle of Saint Cast. He was only 27 years old and was not married. After his death, his younger brother, George, became the next Baronet.
