Early Life and Education

John Barrington was born around 1624. His father was Henry Barrington, who was a special kind of church leader called a suffragan bishop of Colchester.

When John was about 15 years old, he started studying at Pembroke College, Cambridge on February 28, 1639. He worked hard and earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1643. Later in his life, he was known to live in Westminster, a famous area in London.

Political Career

In 1659, John Barrington decided to get involved in politics. He was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for a place called Dunwich. This happened during a time known as the Third Protectorate Parliament, which was a period when England was not ruled by a king but by a leader called the Lord Protector.
