John Crichton-Stuart, 5th Marquess of Bute (born August 4, 1907 – died August 14, 1956) was an important Scottish nobleman. He was also known as the 5th Marquess of Bute. His father was John Crichton-Stuart, 4th Marquess of Bute, and his mother was Augusta Bellingham.

Family Life and Children
On April 26, 1932, John Crichton-Stuart married Lady Eileen Beatrice Forbes. She was born in 1912 and passed away in 1993. Lady Eileen was the daughter of Bernard Forbes, 8th Earl of Granard, and Beatrice Mills Forbes. Beatrice was an American socialite.
John and Eileen had four children together:
- John Crichton-Stuart, 6th Marquess of Bute (born February 27, 1933 – died July 22, 1993)
- Lord David Crichton-Stuart (born February 27, 1933 – died 1977)
- Lord James Crichton-Stuart (born September 17, 1935 – died December 5, 1982). He had children.
- Lady Caroline Moira Fiona Crichton-Stuart (born January 7, 1941)
Interests and Contributions
The Marquess of Bute had many interests. He was especially good at studying birds, which is called an ornithologist.
Protecting St Kilda
In 1931, he bought the islands of St Kilda. He did this to protect the many birds that lived there, making it a special bird sanctuary. In 1956, he gave these islands to the National Trust for Scotland. This organization helps to preserve important places and natural areas.
Supporting Nurses
In 1953, a special fund was created called the Marchioness of Bute and Lady St David's Fund. This fund helped women in south Wales get training to become nurses and midwives. This was a great way to support healthcare in the region.
