John Dumelo (born on February 3, 1984) is a famous Ghanaian actor and a politician. He is well-known for his many movie roles and his work in government.

Early Life and School
John Dumelo was born in Ghana. He went to Christ the King School in Accra for his early education. Later, he attended Achimota School. There, he was part of the Drama Club. He also won a special prize called "Fliers Guy in Mo-TOWN."
He then studied Civil Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. While at KNUST, he won the "Mr University" contest. After that, he went to GIMPA to study Public Service and Governance.
John started acting when he was very young. In 1991, at just seven years old, he was in a movie called Baby Thief. He was paid 20,000 old Ghana Cedis, which is about 2 Ghana Cedis today.
Business Ventures
Besides acting, John Dumelo is also an entrepreneur. This means he starts and runs his own businesses. In 2012, he launched his own clothing line called J.Melo. He also works in farming, growing crops and raising animals.
Getting Involved in Politics
John Dumelo is also very active in politics. During the 2016 election campaign, he was one of the most famous people to support the National Democratic Congress (Ghana) (NDC) party.
Many people believed that the former President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, appointed him to a role in the NDC party. This was seen as a thank you for his hard work and support.
Running for Parliament
On July 19, 2019, John Dumelo decided to run for a seat in Parliament. He picked up the forms to become a candidate for the NDC party. On August 24, 2019, he won the NDC's internal election. This meant he would represent the NDC in the Ayawaso West Wuogon area for the 2020 general elections.
He officially launched his campaign plans for the 2020 election on October 18, 2020. He promised to give half of his salary to help young people in his area if he won. However, on December 7, 2020, John Dumelo lost the election. The winner was Lydia Alhassan from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He ran again for Parliament in the Ayawaso West Wuogon area in the 2024 election. This time, he won the seat for the National Democratic Congress.
Personal Life
John Dumelo is married to Gifty Mawunya Nkornu. They had a big wedding at the Royal Senchi Resort in Akosombo. Their first child, a son named John Dumelo Jnr., was born on October 16, 2018. Their second child, a daughter named Mali Dumelo, was born on June 10, 2022.
On April 1, 2014, John Dumelo became the first Ghanaian to get one million likes on Facebook. This was a big achievement for him online.
Sadly, John shared the news that his mother passed away on August 15, 2023.
In October 2023, John Dumelo made a fun promise. He said he would walk "backward barefoot" from the UG main gate to the Presec main gate. He made this promise if Presec-Legon won the Ghana National Science and Maths Quiz. When Presec-Legon won, he kept his promise and completed the walk!
