John Francis Dunsworth (born April 12, 1946 – died October 16, 2017) was a Canadian actor. He was famous for playing Jim Lahey, the trailer park supervisor, in the comedy TV show Trailer Park Boys. He also played Dave Teagues in the show Haven. John Dunsworth was also in the CBC film Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion. He had a lot of experience acting in plays too.

John Dunsworth's Early Life
John Dunsworth was born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. He was the second of ten children in his family. In 1988, he was part of a short film called John Dunsworth: The Candidate. This film showed him campaigning when he ran for a political party called the Nova Scotia New Democratic Party.
John Dunsworth's Acting Career
John Dunsworth studied acting at the University of Guelph. He acted in many radio plays for CBC. He also had big roles in plays at the Neptune Theatre in Halifax.
In 1970, Dunsworth opened his own theater called the Pier One Theatre. It was in an old building on the Halifax waterfront. This theater became the first successful alternative theater in the city. Later, he worked at Dalhousie University. He helped produce shows for new students.
Dunsworth also started a company called Filmworks Casting in 1987. He became a well-known casting director in Halifax. He met director Mike Clattenburg in the 1990s. Dunsworth got a small part in Clattenburg's short film, "One Last Shot". His role grew bigger and he won an award for his acting. This character later became Jim Lahey in Trailer Park Boys.
Dunsworth also appeared in the 2002 movie Virginia's Run. He played a local police officer. He also starred in Haven, a TV show based on a book by Stephen King.
John Dunsworth's Personal Life
John Dunsworth lived in Nova Scotia with his wife, Elizabeth. They got married after 1974. They had four children: three daughters (Sarah, Zoë, and Molly) and one son (Geoff). Two of his daughters, Sarah and Molly, are also actresses.
John Dunsworth loved boating. He spent a lot of time on his yacht, which he called Emerald Princess. He also enjoyed building sculptures and structures using local stone and concrete.
John Dunsworth's Passing
John Dunsworth passed away on October 16, 2017. He was 71 years old. He died in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His daughter, Sarah, said that his illness was "short and unexpected". She also said her father was an "amazing husband, father and grandfather". Later, his family shared that he died from problems related to a rare blood disorder called thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). John Dunsworth is buried in Simms Settlement, Nova Scotia.
