About John Edmonds
John Edmonds is known for his unique way of looking at the world through his camera. His art often explores ideas about groups of people, who we are as individuals, and what we hope for. Another famous artist, Carrie Mae Weems, has said that Edmonds helps us see Black men in new and important ways through his pictures.
His Teaching and Training
John Edmonds has taught art at important schools. He was a teacher at Yale University and The School of Visual Arts. He also spent time at special art programs called residencies. These include Light Work, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and Fabrica, which is a research center for United Colors of Benetton. These experiences helped him grow as an artist.
