John Lawrence Givens (born August 29), known as John Givez, is an American musician. He plays different styles of music. These include hip hop, R&B, soul, and funk. He is also known by the name Juan Dando. John Givez is cousins with another rapper named JGivens. He has released two main albums. These albums are Four Seasons (2013) and Soul Rebel (2015). Both of his albums appeared on the famous Billboard magazine music charts.
Early Life and Background
John Lawrence Givens was born on August 29, 1992. His hometown is Oceanside, California. He grew up there with his parents, John Sr. and Ann Givens. His parents originally came from Columbia, South Carolina.
Music Journey
John Givez started his music career in 2013. His first album was called Four Seasons. It came out on November 12, 2013. The album was released with Kings Dream Entertainment. Four Seasons was a big success for him. It reached No. 46 on the Gospel Albums chart. This chart is from Billboard magazine.
His next album was Soul Rebel. It was released on August 28, 2015. This album also came out with Kings Dream Entertainment. Soul Rebel was even more popular. It appeared on three different Billboard charts. It reached No. 7 on the Christian Albums chart. It also hit No. 19 on the Independent Albums chart. Plus, it made it to No. 10 on the Rap Albums chart.
John Givez was also part of music groups. He was in Cousin Neighbor with his cousin JGivens. He was also in Dream Junkies with Beleaf and Ruslan. He worked with other artists too. He was featured on songs by Asaiah Ziv. These songs included "Hipsavvy Cypher" and "Versace Dreams". In 2016, he worked with Lecrae on a song called "Misconceptions 3". He also teamed up with the group Hostyle Gospel. They released a song called Skittles & Iced Tea. This song was about a legal case that was in the news.
Later in 2016, John Givez announced something new. He said he was no longer with Kings Dream Entertainment. In 2017, he released new songs. These included "2 dolla mic" and "Johnny's Cookout". He also put out music videos for "a selfish demo" and "After hours". On April 27, 2017, John shared news about a new mixtape. It was going to be called "Side A".
