John Hill (born 1876 – died October 1922) was a talented baseball player. He played as a third baseman and shortstop in the Negro leagues. These leagues were important baseball organizations for African American players. They existed before the first major Negro National League was formed.

Early Baseball Career

John Hill started his professional baseball journey in 1903. He was about 27 years old when he joined the Cuban X-Giants. This team was one of the well-known teams of that time.

Playing for the Philadelphia Giants

After his time with the Cuban X-Giants, John Hill moved to another team. He played for the Philadelphia Giants for a couple of years. This was between 1904 and 1905.

Returning to the X-Giants

Later, John Hill returned to the Cuban X-Giants. He played many seasons with them. This team became a big part of his baseball career. He also played for the Cuban Giants and the Brooklyn Royal Giants during his career. His final known team was the New York Black Sox in 1910.

Later Life and Legacy

John Hill passed away in October 1922. He was 46 years old. He died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His contributions helped shape early baseball history. He was part of a time when African American players created their own leagues.
