John Edward Lambert (born January 14, 1953) is an American former professional basketball player. He was born in Berkeley, California. John played basketball in high school at Berkeley High. His team, the Berkeley High Yellowjackets, even won the State Championship! In 2007, he was honored by being added to the school's new Athletic Hall of Fame.
John was a tall player, standing 6 feet 10 inches (208 cm) tall. He played as a center for the University of Southern California (USC) for three years. He did very well in college, graduating with honors. He earned a degree in Journalism and Public Relations.

John Lambert's Basketball Journey
John Lambert played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1975 to 1982. He was a talented player who spent several years with different teams.
Becoming an NBA Player
In the 1975 NBA draft, John was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was their first pick and the 15th player chosen overall in the draft. He signed his first contract with the Cavaliers in July 1975. He signed another contract with them in September 1979.
In November 1980, John had some back problems. He was placed on the injured reserve list, meaning he couldn't play. Later that month, Cleveland activated him, and he was able to play again.
Playing for Different Teams
In December 1980, the Cleveland Cavaliers decided to release John. This made him a free agent, meaning he could sign with any team. The Kansas City Kings quickly signed him that same month.
John played for the Kings until February 1982. Then, Kansas City traded him to the San Antonio Spurs. In return, the Kings received a draft pick for 1984 and some money. In August 1982, John was again released and became a free agent.

Life After Basketball

From 2001 to 2009, he was a leader at a company called KCM Investment Advisors. He helped manage money for wealthy individuals and large organizations. In 2009, he joined another company called Neuberger Berman. By September 2010, he was promoted to a leadership role there. He became the West Coast regional director for their wealth management business.
John left Neuberger Berman in 2014. He then joined Morgan Stanley, another big financial company. He worked as a manager in their San Francisco office. Later, he moved his work to Morgan Stanley's Santa Rosa office. John Lambert retired from his financial career in February 2021.
