John Edward Lambert (born January 14, 1953) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He was born in Berkeley, California.
In high school at Berkeley, John was a talented basketball player. He was part of the Berkeley High Yellowjackets team that won the State Championship. In 2007, he was honored by being added to the school's new Athletic Hall of Fame.
John was a 6-foot-10-inch center when he played college basketball. He played for the University of Southern California (USC) for three years. He studied Journalism and Public Relations and graduated with high honors.

John Lambert's NBA Journey
John Lambert played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1975 to 1982. This is the top professional basketball league in North America.
Joining the Cleveland Cavaliers
In the 1975 NBA draft, John was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was their first pick and the 15th player chosen overall. He signed his first contract with them in July 1975. He signed another contract in September 1979.
In November 1980, John had some back problems. He was on the injured list for a while. Later that year, the Cavaliers decided to let him go. This meant he became a free agent.
Playing for Other Teams
After leaving the Cavaliers, John joined the Kansas City Kings in December 1980. He played for them for a while.
In February 1982, the Kansas City Kings traded John to the San Antonio Spurs. He played for the Spurs for a short time. In August 1982, he became a free agent again.
During his NBA career, John Lambert played in 446 games. He averaged 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Life After Basketball
After his time in the NBA, John Lambert started a new career. In 1986, he began working in the financial services industry. This means he helped people manage their money and investments.
From 2001 to 2009, he was a leader at a company called KCM Investment Advisors. He worked with wealthy individuals and large organizations. In 2009, he moved to another company, Neuberger Berman. By September 2010, he was promoted to a top role there. He became the West Coast regional director for their wealth management business.
John left Neuberger Berman in 2014. He then joined Morgan Stanley, another big financial company. He worked as a manager in their San Francisco office. Later, he moved his work to Morgan Stanley's Santa Rosa office. John Lambert retired from his financial career in February 2021.
