John Henry Matthew Reilly (born November 11, 1934 – died January 9, 2021) was an American actor. He was famous for his roles in TV shows, especially popular soap operas. You might know him from General Hospital, Sunset Beach, and Passions.

Acting Career Highlights
John Reilly started his acting journey in the mid-1960s. He appeared in many TV shows as a guest star. Some of his early roles were in Death Valley Days and Gunsmoke.
Early TV Roles
In 1974, John Reilly took on the role of Dr. Dan Stewart in the soap opera As the World Turns. He played this character for about two and a half years. He also appeared in an episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1977. Later, he had roles in TV movies like Lassie: A New Beginning. He also acted in feature films such as The Main Event (1979).
Becoming Sean Donely
A big role for John Reilly came in 1984. He was cast as WSB agent Sean Donely in the popular soap opera General Hospital. He played this character for many years, becoming well-known to fans. He left the show in 1994, and his character left the show in 1995.
Other Notable TV Appearances
After General Hospital, Reilly joined Sunset Beach as Del Douglas. He appeared in the first few episodes and returned several times. He also played Bill Taylor, the father of Kelly Taylor, in the hit show Beverly Hills, 90210. His character was later arrested and sent to jail.
In 2005, John Reilly took over the role of Alistair Crane in the soap opera Passions. He played this part until 2008. He even returned to General Hospital in 2013 for the show's 50th anniversary.
Personal Life
John Reilly passed away on January 9, 2021, at the age of 86. His daughter, Caitlin, shared the news on social media. He died from a heart attack. He was survived by his wife, Liz, and five daughters, including Caitlin, who is also an actress. He also had two grandchildren.
