John Thomas, born on September 8, 1975, is a former professional basketball player from America. He played as a power forward and center. John was the captain of the Minnesota Golden Gophers team in the 1996–97 season. This team made it all the way to the Semi-Finals of the 1997 NCAA Tournament.

John Thomas's Basketball Journey
Starting in the NBA
John Thomas was chosen by the New York Knicks as the 25th pick in the 1997 NBA draft. Even though he was drafted by the Knicks, he never played a game for them. He was traded to the Boston Celtics in October 1997.
Just four months later, he was traded again. This time, he went to the Toronto Raptors. He played for the Raptors until 1999.
Playing for Different Teams
After his time with the Raptors, John played for several other teams. In October 2004, he joined the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played in 44 games for them during that season.
In November 2005, he moved to the Atlanta Hawks. Later, in January 2006, he played two games for the New Jersey Nets to finish the season.
International and Later Career
John Thomas also played basketball in other countries. In 2009, he signed with Hapoel Holon in Israel. During the 2009–10 season, he was the top rebounder in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. This means he grabbed more missed shots than anyone else in the league that year.
In January 2011, he went to Greece to play for Aris B.C.. He later played for Jeonju KCC Egis in South Korea in 2012. His professional playing career ended in 2013.
After Basketball
After retiring from playing, John Thomas continued to work in basketball. In 2014, he became the National Coordinator for Ultimate Hoops. This is a basketball league for adults. By 2015, he was the National Manager of Training for the same organization.
