Sir John Trevor III (born in 1626 – died on 28 May 1672) was an important Welsh politician. He was a member of the House of Commons, which is like a part of the government that helps make decisions and laws for the country. He served there at different times between 1646 and 1672.

Biography

Sir John Trevor III was the son of Sir John Trevor II. His family lived in places like Trevalyn Hall in Denbighshire and Plas Teg in Flintshire. His father was also a politician and served in Parliament under different kings and leaders, including King James I, King Charles I, and even during the time of Oliver Cromwell.

Sir John Trevor III began his own political career in 1646. He was chosen to be a Member of Parliament for Flintshire. He served in what was known as the Long Parliament. He continued to be re-elected for Flintshire in later parliaments, including those during the time of the Commonwealth and the Protectorate. These were periods when England was not ruled by a king.

He held several important public jobs during these times. In 1660, he became part of a special group called the council of state. Later, when King Charles II returned to power, Sir John Trevor III became even more important. He bought the job of Secretary of State, which was a very high position in the government. He was also made a knight. He started this new role in late 1668, after helping to create a significant agreement between England and France.

Sir John Trevor III passed away on 28 May 1672, a year before his father.

Family Life

Sir John Trevor III married a woman named Ruth Hampden. She was the daughter of John Hampden, who was also a well-known figure in English history. Together, Sir John and Ruth had a son named Thomas. Thomas later became a very important person himself and was given the title of Baron Trevor in 1712.
