Starting in the NBA
John Turner was chosen by the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 1991 NBA draft. He was the 20th player picked overall that year. He played for the Rockets in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for one season.
During the 1991-92 NBA season, he played in 42 games. He scored an average of 2.8 points in each game. After this season, in August 1992, the Rockets allowed Turner to leave. This let him go play basketball in Spain.
