The Johnny Dixon stories take place in the early 1950s. Johnny lives with his kind grandparents in a made-up town called Duston Heights, Massachusetts. His mother had passed away before the books begin. His father is a brave fighter pilot in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War.
Who Are Johnny's Best Friends?
Johnny's best friend is a smart history professor named Roderick Childermass. The professor lives right across the street from Johnny. In one of the books, The Mummy, the Will, and the Crypt, Johnny meets another boy his age named Byron Q. "Fergie" Ferguson. They meet at a Boy Scout camp.
From then on, Johnny, Fergie, and Professor Childermass (who everyone usually calls "the professor") become the main heroes in all the adventures. Together, they face many strange and spooky challenges!
