John Harold Glen (born December 31, 1941 – died October 25, 2020), known as Johnny Leeze, was a British actor. He was famous for his roles in popular TV shows. Many people knew him as Harry Clayton in the soap opera Coronation Street. He also played Ned Glover in another well-known soap opera, Emmerdale.
Acting Career
Johnny Leeze started his acting journey in 1982. His first TV appearance was in a sitcom called Open All Hours. A sitcom is a funny TV show about everyday life.
He appeared in Coronation Street several times. In 1982, he played Mr. Slater. Later, in 1985, he had a bigger role as Harry Clayton for many episodes. He returned to the show again in 2005 as Laurie Johnstone.
Johnny Leeze also appeared in the long-running sitcom Last of the Summer Wine. He played different characters in this show over the years, from 1983 to 2002.
His other TV shows included Juliet Bravo, All Creatures Great and Small, and Heartbeat. In 2000, he played Inspector Cox in five episodes of The League of Gentlemen. He also appeared in Phoenix Nights, Doctors, and The Royal. His last TV role was in Life on Mars in 2007.
Johnny Leeze only appeared in one film. It was called Blow Dry and came out in 2001. He had a small part in it.
Later Life and Passing
Johnny Leeze passed away on October 25, 2020. He was 78 years old. Before he died, he had tested positive for COVID-19.
