Johnny's Music Journey
Johnny started his music journey in 1958. He was part of a group called The Maori Troubadours. They even made an album together! After that, Johnny traveled the world. He performed in places like the Gold Coast, Italy, and even Las Vegas. He also sang on a cruise ship between New York and the Bahamas. People in South-east Asia really loved his music too!
Back in Australia
In 1969, Johnny came back to Australia. A few years later, in 1972, he hosted a music show on ABC Radio. He helped introduce new singers, like Renee Geyer, to a bigger audience.
Music and Collaborations
Johnny also played in a band called The Col Nolan Soul Syndicate. They released a live album. Later, Johnny released his first solo album, Touch of Blue, in 1975. He has released four more solo albums, two CDs, and a DVD since then.
He even opened concerts for famous jazz musicians like Benny Goodman and the Modern Jazz Quartet (MJQ) when they toured Australia. Johnny also performed for American soldiers in Southeast Asia in the early 1970s.
