Jonas Eduardo Américo, known as Edu, is a famous Brazilian former football player. He was born on August 6, 1949. Edu played as a forward, which means he was one of the main players who tried to score goals.
Edu was born in a city called Jaú in São Paulo, Brazil. He played for many different football clubs during his career, from 1966 to 1985. Some of his most well-known teams were Santos, Corinthians, and Internacional. He even played for a team in Mexico called Tigres UANL.
Edu was a very successful player. He helped his teams win five Campeonato Paulista titles. This is a big football championship in the state of São Paulo. He also received a special award called the Brazilian Silver Ball Award in 1971. This award is given to the best players in the Brazilian league.

Playing for Brazil
Edu also played for the Brazilian national team. This is the team that represents Brazil in international matches. He played in 42 matches for Brazil between June 1966 and June 1976. During these games, he scored eight goals.
World Cup Appearances
Edu was part of the Brazilian team that won the FIFA World Cup in 1970. This is one of the biggest achievements a football player can have! He also played for Brazil in the 1966 and 1974 World Cups.
Even though he was very young, Edu was called up for the 1966 World Cup when he was only 16 years old. This made him the youngest player ever to be chosen for the tournament at that time. However, he did not play in any matches during that World Cup. He played one match in the 1970 World Cup and one match in the 1974 World Cup.
