Jonathan Ormond Torrens (born October 2, 1972) is a Canadian actor and TV personality. He is well-known for co-hosting Street Cents and his talk show Jonovision. He also played "J-Roc" in the popular Canadian show Trailer Park Boys.
In October 2009, Jonathan started hosting TV with TV's Jonathan Torrens. This was a funny news show on the TVtropolis network. In January 2014, he teamed up with Jeremy Taggart to create the Taggart and Torrens Podcast. They talk about many things, from sports to politics, sharing their unique ideas.

Jonathan Torrens's Early Life
Jonathan Torrens was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. When he was a child, he lived in Sherwood. He went to Sherwood Elementary School there.
Jonathan first performed on stage in Grade 1. In 1983, his family moved to Halifax. He then attended St. Patrick's High School. His sister, Jackie Torrens, is also an actress and writer.

Early TV Shows and Roles
From 1989 to 1996, Jonathan co-hosted Street Cents on CBC Television. This show helped teens learn about buying things wisely. After that, he hosted, co-produced, and wrote for his own talk show, Jonovision. This show was also for teens and ran from 1996 to 2001.
In 1998, he acted in a movie called Beefcake. It was about 1950s muscle magazines. That same year, he won a Gemini Award for his work on Nan's Taxi. In 1999, he hosted a short film called When Choices Collide. This film was about the dangers of impaired driving.
In 2001, he played Tony Moressa in the show Pit Pony. He also appeared twice on Royal Canadian Air Farce. In 2002, he was in Rideau Hall. He also made a guest appearance on This Hour Has 22 Minutes. In 2003, he starred in a six-episode show called Jonathan Crosses Canada. In this show, he traveled across Canada in a Winnebago.
Later Roles and Popular Shows
In the summer of 2004, Jonathan was in a funny reality show called Joe Schmo 2 on Spike TV. He also appeared on shows like The Greatest Canadian.
In 2003, Jonathan played Shane McKay in Degrassi: The Next Generation. Shane was Emma Nelson's biological father. Jonathan had brought the original Degrassi cast together on Jonovision in 1999. This reunion was very popular and helped lead to the new Degrassi show.
Jonathan is well-known for his role as J-Roc in Trailer Park Boys. He appeared in all the Trailer Park Boys movies too. From November to December 2008, he was a guest host for the CBC radio show Definitely Not the Opera.
In 2008, he was in an award-winning short film called Treevenge. In 2009, his show TV With TV's Jonathan Torrens started on TVtropolis. It ran until 2011. In 2010, Jonathan also became a co-host for the reality show Wipeout Canada.
On March 21, 2013, it was confirmed that Jonathan gained weight to play J-Roc again. This was for the third Trailer Park Boys film. He also appeared in Season 8 of Trailer Park Boys, which came out on Netflix in September 2014. He helped write Seasons 9 and 10 of the show. Jonathan left the cast of Trailer Park Boys in April 2016.
He has also had regular roles in other TV shows. These include Mr. D, Call Me Fitz, Game On, and Letterkenny.
Recent Projects and Awards
In October 2017, Jonathan and Jeremy Taggart released a book called Canadianity: Tales From The true North Strong And Freezing. The book shares stories from their travels and everyday life in Canada. It talks about local heroes, great places to eat, and fun spots across the country.
In 2019, Jonathan started a web series about money called Your Two Cents. In 2021, he wrote, directed, and starred in Vollies. This is a comedy show about volunteer firefighters. It debuted in October 2021. He was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award in 2022 for his acting in Vollies.
In 2022, he started a recurring role as Remy Nadeau on the show Shoresy. He also appeared as the father in the movie Kids vs. Aliens.
