Jonsered is a small community located in Partille Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. In 2010, about 930 people lived here. It's known for its long history as an industrial town.

Jonsered sits by the Säve river, just outside the big city of Gothenburg in Sweden. Its famous factories started way back in 1834. A Scottish man named William Gibson (1783–1857) founded them. One of the first important products they made was strong canvas for ship sails.

In 1856, a very important event happened. The first state railway in Sweden opened between Gothenburg and Jonsered. This railway later grew to connect all the way to Stockholm. The Gibson family played a huge role in Jonsered. They owned most of the land and businesses until the 1970s.

The Rise of Jonsered's Factories

By the 1880s, the factories in Jonsered started making machines for processing wood. This was a big change and led to the types of products the company makes even today.

Chainsaws and Global Success

In the 1950s, Jonsered began making chainsaws. These chainsaws became very popular all over the world. This success helped the company a lot when the textile industry, which was also big in Jonsered, closed down in the late 1960s.

The company, once called Jonsered, used to have its main production here. However, in 1979, a company called Electrolux bought Jonsered. By 1984, Electrolux moved all the production to another brand, Husqvarna. Today, Jonsered is a brand under Husqvarna AB.

Jonsered Today: A Commuter Town

After the Jonsered factories closed, the community changed quite a bit. It became more of a suburb for people who work in Gothenburg and Partille. Many people now live in Jonsered and travel to nearby cities for their jobs.

It's easy to get to Jonsered by train. A train station was opened in 2000, making it simple for commuters to travel.

Sports in Jonsered

The club has helped develop many talented football players over the years. One of the most famous players to come from Jonsereds IF in recent times is Torbjörn Nilsson.
